More than 65,000 companies use JIRA today as a Project management portal, providing features from software development to managing teams, meetings, sprint/scrum planning, and projects.

Confluence, a wiki-based content management tool that makes organizing written information easy and allows detailed mapping of information relevant to the respective projects.

Integrating them can help you manage all your projects and their detailed information on them in one place.

INTEGRATING JIRA & CONFLUENCE

Imagine you want to build a small mall with five shops and these shops are operated by different vendors, got diverse products. Also, the shops have smaller divisions where the working of one division might be dependent or related to the another.

Also, you want a guide table at your mall describing different shops, their divisions/sub-divisions, the products they sell, and the offers available!

Sounds Complex?

JIRA and Confluence together can handle any such project efficiently. Let’s try this out!

A shop would be named the JIRA system and divisions will be the JIRA links that can be seen when checking details of the shop. JIRA links can be shown as dependents, clones, or in relation to each other as per the requirements.

Now confluence will be the guide table that has links to all these JIRAs from the main systems of 5 shops, telling details, opening time, products information, offers available, and all other information.

Now, Let’s consider a Technical scenario:

Another example may include creating new software or modifying existing ones with different systems(according to the workflow) and their development teams coming together to implement it. Dev teams will need information about the software, requirements from the stakeholders on implementation, and dependencies. Organizing all of this information in one place is made easy by Confluence. It also provides an option to add JIRA links directing you to the project management portal activities/tickets/meeting updates, and more.

Benefits of JIRA & Confluence

  • This integration keeps your team and processes running smoothly and the team remains aligned along the way with the help of proper documentation.
  • It reduces time-wasting context switching by automatically embedding new JIRA links, automatic updates on existing ones.
  • Teams can monitor the progress as a whole and productivity can be increased.
  • Also, continuous reporting to seniors/team leaders can be exhausting and time-taking.
  • By using these tools, everyone can monitor the progress of the project and improved visibility is offered across all stakeholders.
